LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – An autism conference is set for later this month in Lake Charles. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, law enforcement, or just the next-door neighbor, this conference will have something that can help you be aware, care for, and learn about those on the autism spectrum. We spoke with Laura Davila with St. Nicholas Center for Children this morning to get the details.
This one-day conference will be at L’Auberge Casino Resort on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 8 a.m.
It will feature the creator of the Detention Alternative for Autistic Youth treatment court, also known as DAAY Court, Judge Sunny Bailey as well as New York Times bestseller of “The Invisible Thread,” Laura Schroff as the keynote speaker.
Judge Bailey will be speaking to judges and attorneys about safe practices for autism in the court system as well as first responders.
There will also be attendees from all over the state at the conference as they work towards education, awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of those on the autism spectrum.
The non-profit organization St. Nicholas Center Worldwide will be hosting the conference and will have sponsorship opportunities for the conference that will not only support their efforts to help autistic youth but also for conferences such as this to educate those who want to help.
For sponsorship and more information, you can e-mail coach@stnickcenter.org.
Tickets to the conference can be purchased HERE. They will be $150 per ticket which includes entry into all of Wednesday’s keynote and breakout sessions, access to vendor exhibits, and lunch. First responder tickets are $40. For judges and attorneys, the tickets will be $50.
