The 14-year-old victim was left with two black eyes and is now scared to leave her home after the alleged attack at Altona Pier last Wednesday.
Year 9 student Dakota had been walking along the pier with a friend when she was allegedly set upon by a group of five teenagers.
She was allegedly punched more than 50 times and had an energy drink poured over her head before a man nearby intervened.
The alleged attack was then posted online and sent to the victim’s sister.
Dakota spent the night in hospital.
Her family claimed the attack could have killed her.
Police today confirmed they had arrested members of the group over the alleged attack.
An 18-year-old woman from Flemington has been charged with affray, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury and assault by kicking.
She has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 25.
A 14-year-old girl from Point Cook was charged with affray intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury and assault by kicking.
She will face a children’s court at a later date.
A 14-year-old girl from Kings Park and a 14-year-old girl from St Albans were released pending summons for affray, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury and assault by kicking.
The girl’s mother exclusively told 9News this week that her daughter was now afraid to leave the house and that her confidence had been shattered.
“To see your daughter go through that and you’re just helpless,” she said.
“My daughter won’t even go back to school now.”
